Year-end book lists (2014)

Favorite book lists=one of my favorite things about the year’s end.  (That and the promise of the solstice.)

From NY times book critics, “Their Shelf Life Will Continue.”

Interesting after really enjoying Americanah this year–two more books about negotiating between America and Nigeria make these lists:  Foreign Gods, Inc. and Every Day is for the Thief.
The Sixth Extinction has been on my Kindle so long I didn’t realize it was from this year.   (Partly bec. I’ve reverted to paper texts.  Missed the geography they provide.) Now I’ll get to it.
The new Anthony Doerr not on any of these three–but on lots, and at the top of a few.
Can’t say enough good about Atul Gawande’s Being Mortal.  (Thanks Lindsay for introducing me to his writing.) His is that clear compelling non-fiction prose that pulls you in with its insight, intelligence and anecdote.
